Experts at a Scottish university claimed that they have paved the way for the creation of tiny supercomputers which could fit in the palm of the hand. To create a powerful computer the size of a mobile phone, much smaller microchips with thinner wires are needed.
This is where the team’s manipulation of tiny wires comes into play. Through its study of how nano-scale wires react and respond in comparison to larger, more conventional wire technology. The Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) has launched its ‘TV in mobile handset’ service. Now users can easily watch some selected television channels on their mobile handsets. However, presently the service is limited to some regions of north and eastern India. But soon the service will be extended to all parts of India. The service will be free of cost for first month to users and can be availed with a monthly rental after 30 days.

Kingfisher Airlines has tied-up with PayMate (an indian wireless transaction company), to offer its customers the easiest way to book flight tickets — ‘FlyBuySms’.
‘FlyBuySms’ is an SMS-based service, which allows customers to search, book, and pay for their flight tickets using their mobiles. Customers can buy tickets using ‘FlyBuySms’, who first need to SMS ‘KING’, followed by the names of places of departure and destination, and date of travel to 5667711; for example FLY Delhi Mumbai 26Oct. Customers would then receive an SMS, with details of all Kingfisher flights on that sector, with complete departure/arrival/fare details. The broadband connection can be activated at any time. The process is expected to take a month, after which any landline subscriber of BSNL can log on to the internet without taking a Sancharnet connection or taking a separate subscription package for the internet.
