MapMyIndia launches, Delphi Nav 200 and AMAX 06GP5A, GPS-based in-car device.

MapmyIndia, an Indian navigable map data provider, has launched GPS-based in-car navigation devices. The two models of MapmyIndia Navigator -Delphi Nav 200 and AMAX 06GP5A - use satellites to determine the location. While entering any destination across India, the MapmyIndia Navigator will guide you to your destination with visual map instructions supported by voice prompts.

The Navigator offers complete coverage of streets, localities, sub-localities, and points of interest in 18 major cities as well as access to 55,000 towns and villages connected by national and state highways, important landmarks within 150 cities and 200,000 tourist and business points of interest across the country.

The Navigator also auto re-route the destination in case you miss a turn. Other features of the MapmyIndia Navigator include: blocked roads or if you choose to follow an alternate road; detours to avoid specific roads; address book to store your favourite destinations.
MapmyIndia Navigatordevices have built-in GPS (SirfStar III), 3.5-inch colour touch-screen, Samsung 400 MHz processor and multimedia features to play movies, music, photos, games etc.

In countries like India, where roads either don’t have names, or road signs are not clearly marked, following directions based on road names or traditional methods can be a frustrating experience. With GPS technology and accurate MapmyIndia maps telling you exactly where to take your next turn, unnamed roads or unclear road signs will no longer be an issue.

Additionally, MapmyIndia expects to partner with leading hardware manufacturers and consumer brands in the future to pre-load MapmyIndia Navigator software and maps on a host of handsets and navigation devices. The company also plans to to provide real-time traffic information and services in Hindi and other regional languages. The company is currently importing equipments from China and prices are likely to come down once demand picks up.

The MapmyIndia Navigator is available for Rs.21,000 in Delhi and Rs.22,000 in other Indian states.
