Flash memory maker SanDisk Corp. introduced
a new PC-to-TV video player which will simplify the transfers of movies and television shows from computer to a television. The new device has been named “Sansa TakeTV”, and this new player will work like a USB drive, allowing users to download their favourite content from the internet with TakeTV device and then to play the downloaded content on a television set through standard audio/video sockets.
Sansa TakeTV is the most easy-to-use, solution for watching downloaded personal video content and other shows in the comfort of the living room. It is available in two versions, 4GB and 8GB. The TakeTV player supports video formats DivX, XVID, and MPEG-4, as well as the Vista, XP, Mac, and Linux operating systems.
The sleek player also shows a simple, on-screen guide to the user, enabling them to rapidly select the content with the help of remote control. The DivX Certified for Home Theater profile, the Sansa player is compatible with video formats such as DivX, XVID and MPEG-4. You can also connect the TakeTV player to the computer through a USB connector.
The 4-gigabyte version can hold up to 5 hours of video and costs $99.99, and the 8-gigabyte model is priced at $149.99, and can hold 10 hours of programming.
The Milpitas-based SanDisk is the world’s largest supplier of flash data storage card products using its patented, high-density flash memory and controller technology. SanDisk also builds the Sansa line of MP3 players, claims its new PC-to-TV video player is a simpler alternative to setting up a wireless network, running wires across a living room or burning video on a DVD.
