Yahoo India, provider of online services today launched its ‘oneSearch’ SMS here. Using the ‘oneSearch’ SMS facility to 58242, customers can search for an information over their mobile phones from weather, stocks, and pubs to news at standard rates with no incremental costs.
The service is available through all major operators including Airtel, Reliance Communications, Vodafone, Idea and Aircel and will also be accessible to users who do not have WAP. The price of the SMS would depend on as per the SMS charges by the respective mobile operators.
Yahoo is trying to get more users. As India is a growing market, the handsets sold are mostly economical models. Also many mobile users do not have PCs. Also, by providing mobile consumers with instant answers for any search query via SMS, Yahoo is improving the mobile search experience and expanding the service to reach all mobile users in the country.
The service by Yahoo is in addition to other content clusters like web results, mobile web results, weather, news, finance, web images, and Flickr photos.
